… “So, Wilson, you knew all along, eh?” Cranefeld grinned. ” I thought you seemed a little too happy about the whole deal with Lola and Delores.” He put the newspaper down and looked Wilson in the eye. “But what in the world ever made you suspect her in the first place? She sure had all of us fooled.”

Wilson took a deep breath and smiled as he looked out the window. “Well, I knew it couldn’t have been my mother’s body in the wreckage. You see,” he said as he leaned back and closed his eyes, “my mother has six fingers on her left hand.”
