A Summer Job
“Whoever works his land will have plenty of bread, but he who follows worthless pursuits lacks sense.” Proverbs 12:11
At the end of July, in the height of summer, we found ourselves in the quaint little mountain town of Dobrinishte. Aside from the natural beauty of the mountains, forests and streams, and the wonderful people, we were struck by the realization that everywhere we went, people were doing the same thing.
Preparing for winter.
On every street, in front of every building, down every alley, and sometimes stacked high inside buildings, people were chopping wood to provide heat in the coming winter. Not just individuals, but the entire community was working together so that no one would be left in the cold when the winter came.
