In the Marketplace
“So he reasoned in the synagogue with the Jews and the devout persons, and in the marketplace every day with those who happened to be there.” Acts 17:17
Every day, all across Bulgaria (and much of the rest of the world) you will find people in the marketplace. The smell of fresh vegetables, fruits, spices, nuts, flowers and many other items mix with the buzz of conversation – neighbors chatting about family, shoppers haggling with sellers, old friends continuing conversations that were begun weeks ago and are just now getting to the good part.
In Stara Zagora, people were doing this same routine on the very day that Paul was in a very similar marketplace some seven hundred miles away in Athens. I am often overwhelmed by the history of places like this, wondering about the countless stories that have been told, the conversations that have happened over thousands of years. How many of them have been about the Greatest Story?
